About

 The Scarecrows are coming!

We are so pleased to be able to announce that, with your support, The Scarecrow Festival 2021 will take place over the weekend of June 12th and 13th June. The theme is Famous Landmarks.

Due to Covid restrictions there can be no grand Friday night parade; however, what we would like you to do is to build your scarecrow and then assemble an entourage in your garden, playground, field or any open space. It could be your school, club or just the family. Film (phones will be fine) your entourage, no longer than two minutes please, and email it to: bromyardscarecrows@gmail.com We hope that this will give you the opportunity to get even more creative than you usually are!

All film/videos will need in by June 5th- so that they be judged. There will be four prizes of £50 to be decided by the judges.

On Saturday 12th the Scarecrows Festival will be as normal - you will already have told us if you are going to place your scarecrow yourself or if you want us to find it a home (that information will be given via the entry form). The Scarecrows themselves will be judged, as always, on Saturday morning and the results will be on our website or Facebook, placed on the winning scarecrows or displayed at the kiosk (hopefully outside the Leisure Centre). The Scarecrow prizes are 1st £75, 2nd £50 and 3rd £25, plus Highly Commended as appropriate.

We will have our usual Name the Scarecrow competition, forms and maps of the scarecrow route can be bought from the kiosk. There will be a £50 prize for the adult competition and £25 book token for the children’s prize. You will be able to take part in the Name the Scarecrow competition until 5.00pm on Sunday. The results will appear on the website or Facebook at the beginning of the following week.

We have a new competition this year for children in nursery or primary school. We would like the children to draw us a scarecrow picture - no template, it’s all theirs. It does not have to follow this year’s theme - just a scarecrow. Please use an A4 sized piece of paper and put their name age and address or phone number on the back. The pictures will be judged in four categories: Nursery/Reception, Year 1/2, Year 3/4, and Year/5/6. There will be a £20 book token prize for each category and they will need to have been submitted by June 5th. We are having a collection point for the pictures in the town - more news of that next month.

To download your entry form please goes to our website www.bromyardscarecrowfestival.co.uk. Before choosing your landmark please check with Lynne that it hasn’t already been chosen.

For that and any other information please email: bromyardscarecrows@gmail.com or ring 01885 488206Entry forms to be in by 14th May please.

It has been a long hard twelve months - we would love to see you all in June so please have a go and build your scarecrow, ideas and further information very soon.
